HOW TO GET THERE AND AROUND?
THUISHAVEN Mini Resort is located in the quiet and very safe neighborhood of Grote Berg, at Kaya Grote Berg 31, in a central part of Curaçao, just a ten minute drive from Hato Airport. From here, both the peaceful beaches of the west coast and the colorful heart of Willemstad can be reached in less than 15 minutes.
We highly recommend renting a car, as Curaçao’s most beautiful beaches, best restaurants, and nicest bars are spread across the island. To explore and enjoy the island to the fullest, having your own car is almost essential. We are happy to help arrange a rental car or share tips for reliable local providers.
THE AREA AND ITS BEACHES
THUISHAVEN is ideally located as a peaceful and safe base from which to explore the beauty of western Curaçao. Just a 15 minute drive away is Cas Abao Beach, named by National Geographic as one of the 21 most beautiful beaches in the world. Other favorites nearby include Porto Marie and Playa Daaibooi, while the small beaches of San Juan can be reached in about 20 minutes. Prefer a more relaxed day closer to home? Our lush garden and large pool offer the perfect setting to unwind between beach trips.
Within walking distance, you will find several excellent dining options, from a highly rated seafood restaurant and an Asian fusion spot to a cosy breakfast and lunch café and a tapas bar. The neighborhood combines peace and safety with surprising convenience, with everything you need just a short walk or drive away.
Willemstad is also nearby and offers plenty of shops, great restaurants, museums, and bars. A few small supermarkets are only minutes away, while larger supermarkets can be reached within 10 minutes by car. Grote Berg truly offers the best of both worlds: a calm and comfortable setting, yet close to everything Curaçao has to offer.
DIVING & SNORKELING
Curacao is great for snorkeling and diving. We have some snorkeling gear you can take for free for a day (first come first serve). We have great experiences with Central Dive Curacao. They offer great deals and know the best places.
RESTAURANTS
Our island has some great places for drinks and food. We have plenty of suggestions for all kind of occasions.
Our two off-site apartments are actually next to a very nice restaurant. Restaurant 'De Buurvrouw' has a casual atmosphere, the food, especially the pizza, is fantastic and the service is simply the best.
Restaurant Bali is within walking distance of [THUIS]HAVEN. We love the Asia inspired food, the laid back atmosphere and attentive service at this restaurant nearby.
If you like fish you can't miss this: restaurant De Visserij. A hotspot where both locals and tourists come for the tastiest and freshest fish on the island. The restaurant buys the fish from the local fishermen with which they support the profession of the fisherman.
For a great breakfast or lunch go to number Ten! They have a wonderful outdoor area, and you'll love the food and the atmosphere
